AIR PURIFIERS HISTORY IN SCHOOLS

Clean Air For Teachers and Students

Dozens of studies (reported by the EPA, the CDC, the American Lung Association, the American Asthma and Allergy Foundation, researchers and medical schools worldwide) have described the serious and increasing toll airborne pollutants take on the health and classroom performance of students and teachers alike. The damage ranges from significant increases in sick days to an inability to concentrate on the lesson at hand. As a matter of fact, the Environmental Protection Agency has reported that Asthma, which is many times triggered by poor indoor air quality, is responsible for more than 14 million sick days each year.

A single new technology air purifier will filter all the air in a typical classroom more than 15 times every hour, helping reduce a variety of airborne pollutants and allergens. Many classrooms install two of these air purifiers and filter the classroom air 40 times per hour, or once every 90 seconds. These air purifiers will filter the air silently and efficiently, pulling germs and irritants up and away from students and teachers, creating a healthy, comfortable environment for learning.

These new technology air purifiers are a safe, effective, efficient and low-cost solution that can benefit classrooms in new and old buildings. In many schools, the savings in the first year could be substantially more than the cost of the cost of installing the technology, servicing the filters and the necessary electricity.

As of 2010, more than 110 Schools have installed classroom air purifiers to help clean up classroom air quality. More schools are implementing the EPA Tools for Schools program to enhance awareness and create an ongoing focus on indoor air quality issues.
